The Mitutoyo 530 series vernier caliper is designed for applications where the highest accuracy is essential, particularly in scientific research and industries where parts must fit precisely. This measurement tool features two sets of jaws for taking measurements in metric units of outside dimension (OD), inside dimension (ID), step, and depth (when the depth bar is included).

The caliper's dual vernier scale, with both the upper and lower scales measuring in metric units, provides enhanced visibility and helps prevent parallax error during measurement readings. The 14-degree vernier face angle further improves the readability of the scale.

The caliper's two sets of jaws enable the user to make OD and ID measurements, as well as step measurements, where the butt end of the fixed jaw measures one end of a work piece before its upper/lower or inner/outer steps are measured. When the depth measuring blade with rounded edges is included, the user can also perform depth measurements.

The raised sliding surfaces of the caliper help protect the graduation markings from defacement and wear. A thumbwheel allows for fast and easy measuring, while a clamping screw on the upper scale rotates to control scale movement and locks the sliding jaw's position.

Constructed from hardened, corrosion-resistant stainless steel with a satin chrome finish, the caliper is designed to reduce glare and provide long-lasting durability. It meets the Federal Accuracy Specifications GGG-C-111B, ensuring reliable and precise measurements.
